By ALESSANDRA PAPIA
Why do we choose judge someoneÂ
Over her olive skinÂ
Choice of clothes
Cross pin
Or wish to show pride
Over her eyes of wisdom
And fierce strideÂ
Put her in a box
Painted black
Now colour is what she lacks
But that’s what you wantedÂ
To silence us
And hope our spirit dies
I don’t understand
Why don’t you realize
The discriminatory glaze
That coats your eyes
And you think this is all
Unnecessary chit chatter
Over things that don’t matter
But we will not rest until you see
That a woman’s
Race
Religion
Or sexual orientationÂ
Is not a reason
You think justifiedÂ
To be treated unequallyÂ
